Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Tested: Benchmarks and Specs

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Specifications

Before we get to the juicy benchmark results, let’s go over what makes this chip tick under the hood:

  • 8 CPU cores: 1x Cortex-A715 prime core @ 2.63GHz, 3x Cortex-A715 performance cores @ 2.4GHz, 4x Cortex-A510 efficiency cores @ 1.8GHz
  • Adreno 720 GPU
  • 4nm process technology (TSMC)
  • Snapdragon X63 5G modem (up to 4.2 Gbps download speeds)
  • Support for up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • Triple 18-bit image signal processor (up to 200MP photo capture)
  • 4K HDR video capture @ 60fps

Right off the bat, you can see Qualcomm wasn’t messing around. The prime CPU core is a beast, clocked higher than even some flagship chips. The GPU has been upgraded too, promising a major boost in graphics performance over the previous 7 Gen 1. Toss in 5G, improved image processing, and slick 4K video capabilities, and you’ve got one heck of a well-rounded package for the mid-range.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: Geekbench 6

Let’s kick things off with some CPU benchmarks, shall we? Geekbench gives us a great look at raw computational muscle. Here’s how the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 fared:
Single-core score: 1139
Multi-core score: 3375

Not too shabby! The single-core performance in particular is quite impressive for a mid-range chip, outpacing last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The multi-core score is no slouch either, though it does fall a bit behind the 8 Gen 1’s results.
It’s worth noting that these Geekbench numbers are from an early pre-production unit, so real-world performance could vary slightly. But the overall showing is very promising – this chip can definitely hang with the big boys when it comes to CPU horsepower.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: AnTuTu Benchmark

Of course, there’s more to a mobile processor than just raw CPU power. The AnTuTu benchmark gives us a more comprehensive look at overall system performance, testing the CPU, GPU, RAM, and other components.
And the results? A total AnTuTu score of 849,360 for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the OnePlus Nord CE 4.

Breaking that down, we’re looking at:

  • CPU: 273,078
  • GPU: 258,169
  • Memory: 147,824
  • UX (user experience): 170,289

Those GPU and memory scores in particular are darn impressive for a mid-range chip. The Adreno 720 GPU is clearly pulling its weight, outperforming even some flagship processors from a couple of generations ago.

Qualcomm has managed to strike a nice balance of performance and efficiency with the 7 Gen 3. It’s fast enough to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it, from intense 3D games to heavy multitasking, all while keeping power consumption in check.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: CPU Throttling Test

Of course, raw benchmark numbers only tell part of the story. Sustained performance over longer periods is arguably even more important, especially for intensive tasks like gaming or video rendering.
That’s where CPU throttling tests come in. These measure how well a processor can maintain its peak performance as it heats up from extended heavy workloads.
I put the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 through a grueling 30-minute CPU throttling test, and the results were…stellar, to say the least. There was virtually no performance degradation over the entire half-hour test period.
This kind of thermal and power efficiency is incredibly impressive, especially for a mid-range chip. It means you can run demanding apps and games for extended sessions without worrying about the processor slowing down to a crawl.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test

Speaking of sustained performance, let’s take a look at how the Adreno 720 GPU holds up under pressure with the 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test.
This benchmark runs an extended, intense 3D Graphics workload designed to push a GPU to its limits over time. It’s the perfect way to test for thermal throttling and see how well a mobile chip can handle demanding games and other graphics-heavy apps.
The results? The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 achieved an impressive 99.76% stability score, meaning its performance barely dropped at all over the course of the extended stress test.
To put that in perspective, the Galaxy S22 Ultra with last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip only managed around 64% stability in the same test. Yikes!

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: AI Benchmark

In today’s world of smart cameras, voice assistants, and on-device machine learning, AI performance is becoming increasingly important even for mid-range chips. Let’s see how the 7 Gen 3’s Hexagon tensor accelerator stacks up.
Running the AI Benchmark test, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 scored a respectable 539.1 Not chart-topping numbers, but perfectly adequate for running AI-enhanced apps, computational photography algorithms, and other on-device machine learning workloads.
Qualcomm has made sure not to neglect the AI capabilities of its mid-range chips as this technology becomes more ubiquitous. The 7 Gen 3 has you covered for smart features and intelligent processing without breaking the bank.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: 5G Speed Test

Last but not least, let’s talk about connectivity. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is packing some serious 5G muscle thanks to the integrated Snapdragon X63 modem.
In my real-world 5G speed tests on an Airtel network, the 7 Gen 3 achieved blistering download speeds of up to 444 Mbps. Uploads weren’t too shabby either at 30 Mbps.
Those are the kinds of face-meltingly fast data rates that can enable all sorts of cool applications – lightning-quick file transfers, smooth cloud gaming, buffer-free streaming in 4K, and more.

Conclusion

There you have it, folks – a comprehensive look at how Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 performs across a wide range of benchmarks and real-world tests.

The key takeaway?
This is one seriously impressive mid-range chip that punches well above its weight class. With beastly CPU power, excellent GPU performance (including killer sustained graphics), AI acceleration, and blazing-fast 5G, the 7 Gen 3 delivers a premium experience at a non-premium price point.
Qualcomm has managed to trickle down flagship-level capabilities to the mid-range in a way we’ve never quite seen before. This opens the door for more affordable yet extremely capable Android devices that can handle pretty much anything you throw at them.
If you’re in the market for a new mid-range phone, make sure to keep an eye out for models powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This chip is a real game-changer that’s going to seriously raise the bar for what we can expect from mid-tier mobile hardware.
